How do I block specific keywords? - Extension
Keyword Blocking allows you to block websites when a specific keyword appears in the website URL.
For example, if you add the keyword games, BlockSite may block websites with URLs that include that word.
On the extension
- Click the BlockSite toolbar icon.
- Click the ⚙️ icon.
- On the left-hand menu, click the Block by Words tab.
- Add the keyword you wish to block.
- Click Enter.
Important to know
- Keyword Blocking works based on the website URL, not the text or content displayed on the page itself.
- A keyword must be a single word without spaces. For example, instead of adding online games, add games.
- BlockSite will not hide search results on Google, Bing, or other search engines. However, if you click a search result and the URL contains one of your blocked keywords, BlockSite will block the page from opening.
Please choose your keywords carefully. Blocking keywords may block many websites or apps that include the keyword in their URL. For example, adding a very short or common keyword may block more websites than expected.
